Dagny Thurmann-Moe, a Norwegian designer and author believes that the increasing tendency of depression among nationals is due to the excessive popularity of monochromatic interiors. She claims that an average Scandinavian gives up on grey colouring after 3 years of use as they are overwhelmed with the neutral and impersonal atmosphere.

Designing the whole space according to the trend can result in a sense of boredom, especially if it’s used for several hours a day. You can reduce the monotony of a place by introducing warmer as well as cooler tones of dove grey, anthracite and dark graphite. They work well with other colours and become a basis for numerous arrangements and combinations. It is advisable to use the solution as grey on its own doesn’t stimulate or relax enough.

In a business world darker shades indicate professionalism and power, whereas lighter ones portray natural elegance. As a dominating element of space grey compliments those who don’t need any outside stimuli to function. It well fits into interiors where short, intense meetings take place.
Grey works perfect with saturated colours; matching it with red, burgundy, purple and yellow create a very stylish space. Earthy and blue colours paired with grey are another great combination. A mix of two cool shades e.g. grey and white creates a relaxing and comfortable environment.

Using grey in upholstery is a verified and a practical solution, a simple patent of introducing modernity into interiors. Vivid colours and green plants break monotonous feel and create a more energized space.
Grey has been underestimated for a very long time and only began to stand out when lofts, minimalist and industrial trend became popular. It freely works with new styles, therefore, can be reapplied and shape the future of trends.
