Plastic chairs by renowned designers

For years, plastic was viewed as a second-choice material, treated as a cheaper substitute. This perception was changed by designers who recognized its potential and discovered possibilities in it that are unavailable to wood or metal. In the .mdd collection, every chair has a designer and a well-thought-out form that stands out in any interior. Krystian Kowalski, Dirk Winkel, the Swedish studio Form Us With Love, and the Spanish firm Nacar Design are the creators behind projects for the most demanding clients—hotels, Class A offices, and public spaces, where the appearance of furniture is just as important as its durability. In their hands, high-quality polypropylene ceases to be just a plastic and becomes a material that can be precisely molded, dyed throughout, and finished with upholstery—without compromising on quality or durability.

Plastic chairs – one design, endless possibilities

The plastic chairs in the .mdd range are available in a wide variety of bases and finishes, allowing them to blend into almost any interior. It is no coincidence that plastic chairs can now be found in restaurant gardens as well as in offices and conference rooms. A sled base will lend the interior a sense of calm and visual order, beech wood legs will add warmth to more austere spaces, and an aluminium or steel four-legged frame will prove its worth wherever resistance to heavy use is essential. There are also versions with a five-star base on castors – for offices where the layout needs to be changed frequently. Fronts and seats are available in a wide range of colours, and selected collections – such as Shila or Blendy – also offer upholstered versions, which enhance comfort during prolonged sitting without compromising on the material’s lightness.

Plastic chairs for special purposes

Some spaces place unique demands on furniture – and it is precisely with these in mind that part of the .mdd plastic chair collection was created. Stackability is one of those advantages which, in a conference room, auditorium or event space, translates into space-saving every time the layout is changed – depending on the model, chairs can be stacked up to twelve high, as is the case with Shila. Equally important is resistance to outdoor conditions: the Team, Blendy and Tube collections are available in outdoor versions, made of galvanised steel or polypropylene resistant to moisture and UV rays. Plastic chairs for outdoor use are ideal for terraces, restaurant gardens and public spaces – with the same attention to form and detail as their indoor counterparts.

A sustainable choice – eco-friendly plastic chairs

Plastic and ecology used to sound like an oxymoron. In the case of .mdd plastic chairs, however, it is a well-thought-out and documented strategy. Most of the collection is 100% recyclable, and the production process utilises regranulate – recovered plastic that returns to circulation as a fully-fledged raw material. A significant proportion of the models also hold EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) certification, confirming the product’s actual environmental impact at every stage of its life cycle. This document is increasingly required in public tenders and projects designed with sustainability in mind.
